“You can hate on me all you want to, but what can you possibly say to somebody that looks like Rambo, pretty much, with his shirt off.” - Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino
Most of you have probably heard of Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, the most popular star from MTV’s Jersey Shore. He had the most camera action on the show and is the most talked about. People refer to him in both a positive and negative fashion. “The Situation” is unlike most people and not in the sense of how he talks or acts, but his attitude. “The Situation” has infinite confidence and does not let negative comments or negativity in general get to him. Now that is something special.
The problem with society is that people fail to accept difference. The bigger problem is that people, entrepreneurs, entertainers and businesses lack the confidence to succeed. The reason they do not have the confidence is because they are afraid what people will think and in essence, believe others will not accept their differences.
The truth is, ‘difference’ wins the race every time and those people that express the negativity finish last. People can hate on “The Situation”, but the guy makes $7,500 for every appearance he makes. On top of that, he has been all over television and magazines including: The Jay Leno Show, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and ESPN.
Here are some other people who were different:
- Bill Gates
- Steve Jobs
- Thomas Edison
- T-Pain
- The Beatles
- The list goes on
The list speaks for itself. Be different, be confident, or get lost somewhere in society.

Here is Mike “The Situation” expressing his confidence: “Everybody loves me, babies, dogs, ya know, hot girls, cougers. I just have unbelievable mass appeal.”
“The Situation” after getting hung up on, “Everybody gets stood up, everybody gets hung up on and rejected.”
“The Situation” in an interview with Lynn Hoppes, who is Senior Director of ESPN.com:
What about those who call you a tool?
“I don’t point fingers at anybody. That’s not the type of person I am. Whatever you have you should be proud of it. I don’t worry about all the negativity. I could care less. All I say to those people is, ‘Go pick up a magazine cover and see me on it.’ They are just jealous. I’m on almost every channel. I’m on all these talk shows. Anybody who talks trash is just jealous.”

The situation may be brash and toolish at times, but who cares, he is having fun and making the best of his 15 minutes of fame.
